Great interview Rob. I like how a lot of what he was talking about stayed focused around his primary goal. All the innovation research he does and all the ideas he gets from other nurses, he always asks how does this help provide better patient care.
I think it's the focus and the clearly identifiable goal that he measures against which is really important.
I believe innovation drives evidenced based practice. As Nurses we always have innovative ideas for how we can improve outcomes for our patients. Many times they come to us in fleeting moments of our hectic day when we really don't do anything with them but put them into our subliminal mind only to bring them back (or not) at a later moment. . Regardless of where we are in our quest for knowledge, we need to be innovatie thinkers. I have known Tjitze for several years through Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, and he is an exceptional foward thinker, creative, talented and a bright nurse who loves to share his knowledge and experiences with others. In addtion he has proven to excel in nursing leadership, and this is yet another example of that. Perhaps someday we will have a new nursing theorist whose focus is how innovation drives research that drives best practice that enehances the well being and improves outcomes all patients.
